Question by Connie: do 2009 west point american silver eagles have mint mark?
Best answer:
Answer by Kyoo Sook J Yes, it is a capital 'w'. It should be on the Reverse on the bottom left of the Eagle, directly below the olive branch, above the letter 'e' of the word 'fine'
Its not on the front so don't bother looking there

Question by power_house911: How do you get the paint off of silver eagles?
I personally do not like painted coins. I was wondering if there was a way to remove the paint or ink on Lady Liberty and the rising sun on the face of some silver eagles without damaging the coin? I think it's more of an ink because it has dots on it like it was done by a machine or computer, but it may be a mix of both. Anyone have any solutions?
Best answer:
Answer by jay marcus Try fingernail polish remover, or maybe Acetone either one should desolve the paint or decal. Warning both are flameable so be careful around an open flame.

Question by Chi L: Are american silver eagles an ok investment?
Are american silver eagles an ok investment? I also like the idea of collecting coins so are there any old silver coins that wouldn't run too much above the spot price of silver?
Best answer:
Answer by BenGraham The worst investment is anything Cash. Since the silver eagle coin is cash, it does not make for a good investment.

Question by anubis: How to tell the difference on a 2008 silver eagle?
How do you tell the difference between the 2007 reverse and the 2008 reverse? I can't see the difference between any years reverses. I keep seeing these "Error Eagles" for sale for 0 and up. Stating that it is a 2008 with a 2007 reverse. Please tell me how to see the difference.
Best answer:
Answer by curtisports2 There are several noticeable differences, but the easiest to see is the U in United. The 2007 reverse has uneven thickness of sides or 'legs' of the U, and no serif (what some call a spur) at the bottom right. The 2008 reverse shows a more-uniform in appearance U with the serif.

Question by jason g: why is american silver eagle coins more expensive than the silver bullion on monex.com..?
does this mean, coins are better than the silver bars itself..?
and which one will you rather buy coins or the silver bars..? (for me is coins for storage)
Best answer:
Answer by wildbirdie The bars are just bulk silver. What they look like doesn't matter. The coins have a higher manufacturing cost.

Question by whose_really_american_anyway?: Who is a reputable company to purchase silver eagles from?
Is Monex.com legit?
So many companies online to buy from. Is there a way to know who is fraud?
Best answer:
Answer by ranger111a The best, safest way to purchase coins: go to the bank you have your mortgage, loans, accounts with: make an appointment with you branch manager or asst. mngr. mr.
Specifically ask him or her with whom the bank secures their funds with. Believe it or not, banks have their own portfolios; many of these portfolios contain currency (including precious metal currency. Do not purchase online. Accountability is the key here. You want a name, a face, a paper trail.
When a corporation that relies strictly on online or telephone purchase goes belly up, it is very difficult to have that accountability. In spite of what you have heard, you local bank has a myriad of local (and that's the operational word) resources.
