How do you tell the difference between the 2007 reverse and the 2008 reverse? I can't see the difference between any years reverses. I keep seeing these "Error Eagles" for sale for 0 and up. Stating that it is a 2008 with a 2007 reverse. Please tell me how to see the difference.

There are several noticeable differences, but the easiest to see is the U in United. The 2007 reverse has uneven thickness of sides or 'legs' of the U, and no serif (what some call a spur) at the bottom right. The 2008 reverse shows a more-uniform in appearance U with the serif.

The bars are just bulk silver. What they look like doesn't matter. The coins have a higher manufacturing cost.

The silver is currently worth about .40US and the gold plating is worth less than that. I would say the coin is worth about US. I hope that helps.

Hello, i have a question regarding a 5 piece set of 20th anniversary silver eagle dollars struck by the U.S Mint. They are in perfect condition, never been out of their coin cases, and come with two certificates of authenticity. Three of them are one one ounce of .999 fine silver, one is 24 karat gold plated and one is 24 karat gold layered. I was wondering how much you think i could receive for them considering i cant find any set like it anywhere. Thank you for your time.

The three coin set including the reverse proof issued by the US Mint is pretty good and would sell for upwards of 0 in the condition you described. Here is a listing of such sets presently for sale on eBay:

The gold plating on the other two coins was done privately - the US Mint did not issue any gold plated coins as part of that set. Those two coins probably aren't worth much more than the value of the silver.

With these two links you can search for local coin dealers and coin clubs with people who will help you. The value of silver American Eagle coins is based on the current spot price of silver though dealers will pay a bit less in order to make a profit.
